The Alchemist

I'd not the most savvy 3-D modeler. I first started in 2012, back when I was going through a huge life-changing ordeal, and was buried under tons of stress. To work through my issues and have something to focus all of my energy on, I started a hobby. I'd always heard that Blender was the best free 3-D modeling software. But the UI confused the hell out of me. But the new updates to Blender really helped me get back into it. I started by making room props, trying to build 3-D renditions of rooms from stories I'd created, and just practicing as much as possible. I'd always look at an object and wonder how I could build it in Blender.

But I drifted away from 3-D modeling (a lot happened) and eventually I started again in 2018. I still have a ways to go, but I think I've improved from 2012. This was a test of building props, texturing, lighting, and incorporating all of it in a scene. I also imported the human and cat figures from Daz, as well as the book he's holding, hair, and clothes (except his glasses). However, everything else was modeled in Blender. It was a few days of stress, constant crashes, and opting to remove godrays to just add in post. And it took forever to render. I think the 4k textures I was using was a huge part of that.

Software used: Blender 2.90, Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, Photoshop CS2, Pixeluvo
GPU: RTX 2060
Logitech G600 Mouse, Wacom Bamboo CTH470
